''It takes two to tango'' In a nutshell that's what great portraiture is all about. For it to really work the photographer must engage with the person he's (she's) shooting. It's about trying to understand what it is about the person that makes them special, different, striking or original and they must let you in. Here's a portrait of my great freind and Irish artist Gary Coyle taken way back in 1983 in Dun Laoghaire. For me it's one of the most challenging fields of photography. I don't always make it but as the saying goes practice makes perfect.
